Have FSOL split up?

Most of the new FSOL work sounds like it's just brian on his own? Just have this feeling that they've gone their separate ways?

My take is that they haven't officially split up.
- do they live in different places in UK - yes.
- do they communicate less these days - I don't know, sometimes it seems like that but not all the time...
FSOL releases will never be signed by 'just Brian'

I hope not. As with most great musical groups it's the sum of the parts and the diversity that brings, that makes them truely great. FSOL a case in point.

But the majority of output the last few years does seem driven by Brian (Calendar tracks for example). But there seemed like Gaz influences on the Environment 7 series to my ears, not all but some of it.

What's happened to the Amorphous Androgynous album, which is one presumes more Gaz driven?

I get the impression Brian is a constant music making machine and Gaz comes and goes, literally as his persona suggests floating in and out as his mood takes him. Total and utter speculation on my part though!

Long may they continue as a symbiotic duo!!

Doesn't feel like they have to me, Trip Maps 3 feels like it has Gaz' fingerprints all over it...

It's worth noting that it's not always easy to tell who did what based on genre. FSOLDigital aliases releases are officially 'largely the work of Brian' (read into that what you will), and they include The Woodlands of Old and Salient Moons 1973. In terms of Trip Maps material, Kingslan is Brian and Jon Goslan; La Bombe Atomique is Brian and Simon Wells. Meanwhile, 'A Glitch in Cellular Memory' is a Gaz track. One of the most overtly 'electronic' sounding tracks on E7.003 is a Dougans/Cobain piece.

Interesting insight Enofa, thanks. Especially the comment on E7.003. That whole trilogy is my favourite release of their’s in years (since Environment 5 for me), with 003 probably the best of the three.

this sounds like a thinly veiled way of saying Trip Maps is all Brian solo tracks lol
