Record Store Day 2025 - Alice in Ultraland

Post by tengram »

This was just announced--2LP set...

https://www.recordstoreday.co.uk/record ... Ultraland

It's listed as Future Sound of London, which is interesting

I had been hoping for Environments 3, but this is certainly a nice alternative

Album has been described as the best thing the creators of The Future Sound of London and The Amorphous Androgynous have ever done.
By who ... people that have only heard this one album :D

I think many would agree that Lifeforms and Dead Cities, at least, would like to have a word with those people...

Yes, I took offence to that remark as well.

Nice to see it back in print though, long overdue, especially given the prices the original goes for.

I wasn't lucky enough to get it on RSD day and after. Hopefully, the LP will appear on their Bandcamp page, does anyone know when exactly?

Some point this week, the exact day seems to vary.

I wonder why ISDN is always left out of top FSOL records. This album is insane and has influenced me no less than those toppers previously mentioned.

Three reasons I can think of:
It’s generally weirder, darker and less easily accessible than the other two
It’s maybe slightly less distinct in terms of creating a specific world (deserts/rainforests, city etc)
The jazzy-leaning trip-hop style is slightly less of a popular approach to many fans, as opposed to the ambient techno and IDM sounds of the other two

I believe it’s Brian’s personal favourite.

For me personally, ISDN, Lifeforms, and Dead Cities are all up there at the top

I didn't know that they were so impressed by the Soviet singer Alla Pugacheva

Pulsa_De_Nura - "Come" (Come at least for a day) 1975 ~ 1977 years, the accompaniment: vocal & instrumental ensemble (VIA, band) "Rhythm", directed & the arrangement by Alexander Avilov / lyrics & music by Alla Pugacheva as Boris Gorbonos (her alter ego) very similar ;)
