Did you read the interview? He wasn't criticising the album for being like that, he just said that it means the mix is more important on an album that is trippy and not verse-chorus, and he wasn't happy with the mixes...

It's just that some of us might have other things to do with our spare time as well, I don't think this comes as a priority in life to anyone, which is why it just seemed a bit short notice at first. I'm currently doing 12 hour days including travel to work so I spend most of my time off catching up...
