Re: Music of the Year
To my fairly unfamiliar eyes(/ears?), vaporwave seems to be popping up quite frequently nowadays. It reminds me of another noteworthy album/artist from the past year that I forgot to mention, Everywhere at the End of Time by The Caretaker. Not exactly vaporwave, but has a similar dreamlike looped-sa...

Re: Music of the Year
I'm quite involved in the vaporwave scene, lots to recommend in there. I'm guessing you've heard former-forum regular Nmesh's albums on AMDiscs and Dream Catalogue? Excellent stuff. Also the albums by 2814 come highly recommended - particularly Birth of a New Day, which is definitely their best. An...

Music of the Year
Hey everybody! Been a long time since I dropped by. Thought I'd leave this topic open for greater use, but I wanted to share with you guys some personally memorable musical discoveries from the past year, so here they are. Not all were released last year, but I believe most were. Since I'm a sucker ...

Asked you guys here about Blomkamp's previous film back when it was coming out, so I thought I'd ask about this one now. It's been out about a week, so maybe some of you have seen it. Haven't seen it myself, but I thought District 9 and Elysium were enjoyable sci-fi flicks and I hope this one will b...

Re: (1996-12-06) Fritz Radio
I think this tracklist is wrong. FSOL digital lists this show as lasting 1:20 and the track list here is almost identical to the one for KISS 102 Manchester (broadcast the day before). Yeah, the actual tracklist to this show is almost identical to the first 80ish minutes of the Groove Radio show (u...

Re: Aphex Twin - SYRO
As seems the general consensus, each listen adds to the album. The first listen was a blur to me, but with each listen I am able to catch sight of and appreciate more. There's no doubt in my mind that in ten years' time, this album will be wonderful to rediscover.

This might answer your question, Dennis (if you don't mind a little spoiling).

I'm not the most frequent visitor/contributor here, but I agree wholeheartedly. A lot of worthwhile news and discussion here, and you all seem like quite interesting, agreeable individuals. Thanks Pete for hosting and everyone for giving this place a heartbeat.

Re: Ramblings of a Madman super-nerdy audio spottings
Well there we go. Next person to say I'm the biggest/most obsessive fan gets a slap, I can't even tell bloody FSOL from Part-Sub-Merged. Cheers! Haha. No worries. It took me a good while to identify which tracks they were from. The only reason I knew they were FSOL and not Part-Sub-Merged is becaus...

The first is from Tif Feetal, the next is from Museum, and the last is from Brujo.Ross wrote: This is familiar but I can't think why - is it on an Archive?
This and this sound like Part-Sub-Merged.

Re: Happy Christmas
Merry Christmas, brothers!
I'm so jealous, Ross. I came across a reissue by some US label at an online record store called soundstage direct. Unfortunately, it has the US CD tracklist and not the full original, so I never bought it. Maybe I'll reconsider and treat myself to a little vinyl.

CA here.
Elysium
Is anyone going to see this movie? I think I might. It comes out tomorrow here in the US. I enjoyed Blomkamp's previous film, District 9, so I have some faith in it. I'm a little worried about it losing some genuineness by aiming to be a blockbuster, what with the casting of Matt Damon and Jodie Fos...

Followed Silver Rain Fell to find Autechre's remix of Scorn's Falling. Always top-notch remix work with them.

Re: Steppings Stones (Recommended Listening for an Initiate)
If Lifeforms is near and dear to you, I'd highly recommend their live ISDN transmissions from '94. It's interesting to hear the transition they were undergoing from Lifeforms to ISDN in these broadcasts (I'm still amazed that they released both albums in the same year). If you want to go the officia...
