Yeah unfortunately we're still getting hammered by bots & naughties quite significantly over the past few months - usually over 250 simultaneous connections 24/7 (Update: 15th May -> 5971 simultaneous users around lunchtime today :o ). I looked into CloudFlare protection but it seemed to be a pain ...

Hmmm tricky to tell if it's CGI (and created with something like Terragen), a photo with a very tweaked field of view and edge-sharpened and recoloured, an AI creation, or quite what

I can imagine what has put a lot of people off using the platform (hence lower play count) is Soundcloud's decision to require sign-up/sign-in to listen to anything on there. Thankfully embeds still don't need sign-in but the site itself is ..... "GIVE US YOUR CREDENTIALS!"
