Yeah, you are right, it does seem like most are shorter, a couple are of similar length. Some are vastly different in length, for example, Garden of Syn is 6:14 on the original, on the new version it is 1:12.

I still think it's most likely to do with fitting onto vinyl though.

Btw, that Wave-Length track sounds very nice. Much lighter, less dark, than anything on the CD album though.

Yeah, it's because of vinyl length. My main criticism of the album would actually be it's a bit too long - certainly very overbearing to listen to in one go, so looking forward to hearing this slightly easier version.

Shhh, you're gonna make me feel like I need to get the vinyl version (as a download) as well!

But I do agree, the CD album does feel a bit too long and maybe some tracks individually are too long.

Synthi A is "decidated to a dear friend now gone..."

This is really great - not only does the shorter running time make it easier going, but the new pieces are all really beautiful and add a much needed melodic vibe to proceedings. Definitely the better of the two versions.

Damn you, Ross - I'm going to have to buy the whole vinyl edition download aren't I? :)

I can confirm it REALLY IS a whole different experience - at least for me.

The CD version was very tough listen for me - almost torture to listen to it in one take.
The LP version is only 11-12 minutes shorter, but feels like it's 35 minutes shorter - I rarely imagined re-editing can do this. This version has that time-warp effect where nothing else matters but the sound. :)

Yes, the CD version reminded me a little of something like the Polemical album, which I rarely sit through in one sitting - this version I've played every day since it came, though.

using the new DIGITANA SYNTHI AKS - KS EXPANDER
a truly awesome addition to the EMS synthi family

in this video the KS Expander is running free of cv - 2 VCO's each have two separate outputs ( square and sine ) thats 4 outs in total - each going through outboard fx ( delay distortion etc )

big props to the Digitana Team

Apparently Brian got a lot of correspondence after the initial release of the album from EMS fans, users and developers - bet he's got dibs on a few new pieces now, haha.

Got the vinyl edition now (on mp3) - basically for free, using Amazon digital credit :)

It is easier to listen to with this release. The new tracks lighten things up and the shorter length (plus big cuts to some of the original tracks) do make things easier to digest. Still something that I think needs me to be in the mood for quite a dark soundscape, rather than something more, umm, musical (maybe that's not the right word).
