Been almost through with listening, all good stuff so far, very 90ies sounding for most part. There is some serious Analogue Bubblebath Bubbling going on on "Plazmatical", maybe they should have cleared before if there was some unknown AFX-archive track on their DAT... :D

- Could you time-stamp the location on Kiss Test 2 Ross? :)

EDIT 1: I'm at work and don't have all the files with me - is it the one around the 2 minute mark?

EDIT 2: - or is it the 39:13 piece named Plasma ?

Right, going to take a few listens to sink in properly, but definitely another strong one. Much like the last volume, this flows really well as an album in its own right. This works as a sharp contrast to 7, which had a hot, dusty feel with all those rolling drum loops. Things here are much more on the cold, clinical, synthetic side of the group. Complex electronic beats and brooding synth pads. The bold polygons and sharp lines of the cover definitely do it justice.

I'm slowly working my way through Archived 8

Acturum Esse - has elements towards the end that are from an FSOL song that I've heard a bunch of times but I can't figure out which one.

Blue Green - has a lot of Dead Cities influence but that bass line sounds a lot like another one of their tracks. Thought it might be VIT but not sure.

Listened to it on my headphones, dont know if its my superexcitement about it but this archives part is exactly what I was waiting for from the guys. Didnt feel like listening to archives material at all, on the contrary, from the beginning to the end it gave the feeling of a complete, cohesive FSOL album - trippy, dark, dirty, paranoid. Fucking stellar, going to be listening to this one a lot! Plus waiting for my A8 poster.

Can't decide whether to get the CD or the MP3 so I can have it now. Did they use to offer CD and download before?

That track is full of really familiar sounds, loads of little bits of it make me think of other things, but none come to mind. The most obvious is at 3:23 and 3:27, which I think are bird sounds used in 'Bird Wings'.

Apparently from the We Have Explosive EP sessions - I suppose there are similarities in some of the more reverbed sound and the second half of the five part run on the single.

I thought Plazmatical and Spacial Freak felt a little dated and out of place. They're good tracks though!
It does feel like an album more than any other Archive release to date. Some great stuff on there. Love all the beat work.

Can't wait to hear this - had to wait to download this at work today as my stupid lappy hates downloading from that site (and also bleep, think I've a major issue with port 8080 causing all that mischief)
