ross i must say your response was pretty predictable there
yeah it's abrasive....surely not the first time he's done a track like that though
as i used to say to my friends when i first got into him....."i'm about to push 420 squares through yer skull breh"
sometimes squarepusher yields violent rewards
ps - about "what happened"
i thought the last album and EPs were pretty darn good. he fell victim to the dubstep garbage to a degree....but not all in.
hopefully that will still be the case on this one

Are we yelling garbage about that 37 second piece in the OP ??
I'm gonna wait for the whole album before I speak my mind, I think I owe him that much...
(because his first 5 albums are all well above average - can you say that about many IDM artists?)

right above that snippet is the full track streaming
and for all you say about the early albums.....hello everything and just a souvenir are two of my favorites for sure!
no complaints about ufabulum really either
i wasn't a huge fan of that shobaleader thing so i'm glad he dropped that for the time being

I don't usually mind Squarepusher's more abrasive stuff. Ufabulum is not bad but this track has some real lacking audio production. I really hope the rest of the album is a little better.

I don't have an issue with it being abrasive - I love Ultravistor start to finish and that has some of his harshest stuff on it - it's just the complete lack of ideas in this track. Short uninteresting synth phrase and drum loop fucked around with in an uninteresting way. Where's all his creativity gone? Tracks like Tundra, Tomorrow World, Tetra-Sync, Iambic Five Poetry etc don't belong in the same universe as garbage like this.
