Ugh, I could go on and on - there are loads of bands/artists with really strong catalogues of work! Back in the 90s it would've been The Smashing Pumpkins. They made my favourite album.

It is tricky and limiting it to just three probably reveals me to be a bit hippified in my tastes.

That said I'm currently spending the majority of my music listening discovering and rediscovering Aphex Twin related music. Blame that lot on watmm for kickstarting the Caustic Window release. Bastards.

Ha yes, I hadn't listened to Aphex other than the two SAW albums and Analogue Bubblebath 3 for absolutely ages, recently been really digging back into his catalogue though, forgot how brilliant most of it is.

And it's worth saying if he actually does release a new album that forum will probably bring the entire internet down. It's already in a frenzy as it is at the very idea of it... It's like watching a car crash repeatedly.

I can almost sense people flinching when you mention the Grateful Dead if only for the improvisational jamming and stoner aspect. It's a million miles from FSOL in some respects. They're largely unknown here in the UK. I didn't get them when I was younger, but they made more sense as my taste in music, er, matured. I think I was originally expecting a sonic assault style of music like Hawkwind, as opposed to their more ambling approach to psychedelia.

There are many reasons for liking them that I won't bore people with, but generally they treat their fanbase extremely well and don't rip off so much as other bands especially in terms of recycled content.

I'm vaguely amused by this thread, as everyone's lists are completely different, except FSOL.
