Very Yage-esque - The track 'Open Window' has been on one of the EBS right ?

"New EP from The Jazz Mags – trumpets, cellos, oboes, percussion blended with electronics and synths - splendid."
Haha

Open Window was on EBS3, as a FSOL track.
There was an Open Door on EBS1, which I assumed would be on here... but apparently not.

Off for dinner, when I get back I expect at least Environments 5, The New Love Poetry, 6 Oscillators in Remittance and In 2 Minds...

That was actually not how I was expecting it to sound at all as they placed all that emphasis on trumpets, cellos and oboes in the description. This is really good stuff, very enjoyable, some great spacey noises in there.

This is definitely FSOL. As I say, Open Window was originally listed as a FSOL track on EBS3. Maybe they changed the name so as not to get mixed up with Environments 5 and its potential single.

Gotta say Burn is one of the fun-est FSOL related tracks in a long time.. another relic from the ISDN era.

I think we discussed this a long time ago, but now that the official Jazz Mags EP is out, it reminded me again, ... so:

We know that the Jazz Mags alias is around at least since EBS3, 2008, and in 2011 two tracks credited to Jazz Mags appeared on two different compilations:

2011 - Benefit Compilation For Japan - track 52 - Jazz Mags - Impro 4 Two [1:04]
( http://www.discogs.com/Various-Benefit- ... se/2988956 )

and
2011 - Skanky Panky Volume 3 - track 5 - Jazz Mags - 108 Track [4:24]

The question is: Are these two tracks from Dougans/Cobain??

Have a listen and give me your opinion:
http://we.tl/J66Xwn5NO2

Or better yet, someone contact the guys and let us know first hand (I'll give it a shot with Brian).

My opinion on the tracks, they don't sound to me like D/C Jazz Mags...
but the timing and the name are so unique, it gives me doubts...

And Brian answered right away! :)

- And then out of nowhere I had a pleasant long chat with Brian.
Here are some of the music related questions that popped:

--- --- ---

ME:
How about this one: http://www.unippm.co.uk/#!/browse/brows ... dCDId=8607
you have 7 tracks here - will we ever see them on a more buy-able release :) ?

BRIAN:
No - these tracks were actually written by others and we remixed them for universal - we added our own melodies which is why we are part of the writers credits - - these will never surface on FSOLDIGITAL.

--- --- ---

ME:
what's the deal with Ocudate?
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Songs-Fo ... se/4247244
Will we see this one on a FSOL release?

BRIAN:
Maybe. - this guy asked me for a track for his girlfriends birthday - that's what he got - it's possible it may appear in some form - at some point

--- --- ---

- and an evasive one towards the end (it was a cool chat having some private thoughts)

ME:
And how did this turned out to be about me - I still have a thousand questions for you - what about Lifeforms @20 - Liz Fraser / FSOL new recordings ?

BRIAN:
I have twisted it away from me - haha
Right that a big answer - I need to get to the studio now. - let's pick this up at a later point. - - nice to chat with you. Speak soon
You're doin' too much, do less.

Good work Mr. Panda, seems he was quite evasive there about new stuff! Always get the impression of him (and presumably Gaz) pretty much living in the studio... Judging by the amount of archival material already released, I guess it's not that wide of the mark, at least for the early days.
