Nice.
Is it confirmed if it's a new track or old one?

I 'shared' this Macmillan link on FB, first time since i joined in 2004. That's what FSOL do to me on a personal level. They push my boundaries. I will be posting selfies next.

Blimey - that is a good line up ! Did you see the Icasa - Benefit Compilation for Japan comp, a similarly vast roster there as well.

There's an interview with the guy who organised it on soundcloud, and some tracks on it are played too:

No mention of what exactly FSOL have submitted, just mentions their inclusion. Looks like when it's available it will be here:

By the way, am I the only one who gets irritated when people use the term electronica? I've always found it a bit of a bullshit phrase. The "a" is entirely unnecessary and always just comes across as a pretentious affectation. I guess there's bigger things in the world to be annoyed with.

hmmmm....personally i use "electronica" at times
to me it just saves the time to type out the extra syllable in "music"

for years in my youth i would have labeled any type of electronic music "techno"
people still do that today too lol

i don't get caught up in the whole genre thing too much.....i have a good idea of the genre names typically sited with music i like so that helps as a guide and that's about it

Hmm, I guess I am probably being overly critical and curdugeonly. Genre is generally a euphemism for pigeon hole. I kind of equate that with crap journalism, so I guess it's minor pet hate. I'm probably guilty of just sticking with Electronic Music, Rock, Reggae, or just plain Psychedelia. It doesn't really matter, if you like it, that's all that counts. Spurious tagging of music I find generally irritating. I think Brian and Gaz have been guilty of it more than once. EMS:Piano I think was categorised as EMS:Piano for example, and I think Seafar used Headcrush, which I'm sure he picked out of his arse at the last minute. Moan over!

I too don't like Electronica at all.
Most of the time I don't like the implications of electronic music too.

If we take a literal look, ALL music form the '60s to today is electronic music - music made by instruments plugged in electricity - guitars, synths, PCs - doesn't matter.

I like the more accurate gender/subgender terms like IDM, EDM, industrial, techno...

Electronica is used more often by people who know fuck all about the music, and often to describe really dull generic synth music made in Reason.

I dislike genre descriptions in general to be honest, as a lot of my favourite music doesn't fit comfortably into any.
