They're streaming some tracks now here: http://mixlr.com/touched-music/

Looking forward to getting this tomorrow... god knows how long it'll take me to listen to it all though!

The Touched Music guy just said: "i'll do my best to get some people do drop in and say hi tonight like Brian from FSOL"

Cool :)

I dunno if I'll be able to listen/watch the whole thing though, so I'll probably miss it.

Brian commented:
that bonus track from fsol environments5 was soooo good - TA

the guy who runs the thing said:
FSOL - Outer Heaven (Touched Mix)
- this is from Archive 7...

confusing...

Sounds like it could be an alternative mix?

I'm not that familiar with the Archives version (new-ish fan, I'm still catching up on the Archives series!), in fact I only heard the Archives 7 version last night, after I heard the Touched version.

Sounded much the same to me, might just be a version without the segues.

I bought the compilation this morning anyway, still well worth the money and for a good cause. Still a shame there wasn't a really exclusive FSOL track though, but I'm greedy :-P

Yeah, seems to be the full uncut version, not faded into segues. The last minute or so is all new, as well as the intro. A shame, given how much completely unreleased stuff they have, but a nice curio nonetheless. And a lot better than Orbital's effort. A twenty year recording career, and they have nothing unreleased to offer other than a live version of Never? Pff.

Yeah, there must be loads of unreleased Archive material, you'd think they could've dug one of those out as an exclusive for this compilation. On the plus side, I think Outer Heaven is a great track and maybe it will help attract FSOL a few new fans from the people who buy Touched Two.

I haven't listened to any of the other stuff yet, other than a few tracks I heard on the stream last night. Plenty to delve into here - and combined with last year's Touched that's about 34 hours of music :)

I must admit I never got to the end of last year's one, or indeed the thing for Japan. I'll be getting this though over the weekend and trying to get through it all (along with the compilations I've already got).

I got through most of it last year after I bought it, listening to some songs 2 or 3 times (as I kept putting it on shuffle), but it was just the last couple of weeks where I went back to it and played the tracks that still showed a 0 play count.

Which is the Japan compilation, I've seen it mentioned a few times. Similar thing? Worth getting?

I just like the idea of having tons of tracks of these styles of music by artists I wouldn't even have heard of otherwise and just randomly listening to them now and then :)

EDIT: found the Japan compilation, I'll check it out :ugeek:

I so rarely listen to music on my computer that these things don't get the playtime they probably deserve from me.

I also stick them on my iPod and connect it to my stereo. I really should sort out a bluetooth adapter for my stereo, then I can just fire them straight from my laptop to that (I do already use a small, portable bluetooth speaker with my laptop, but obviously it's nowhere near as good as coming through proper speakers).

I got a fair way into it, probably about half way through at least, by splitting it up into CD length volumes and digesting them individually. I listened to a load of it when going to some conference in London in January, so I now vaguely associate it with getting totally lost on the docklands light railway! There was nothing on it that I didn't actually like but somehow I didn't quite keep it together to make it through to the end.

The Benefit compilation for Japan is this one

I'll definitely have to have another go at it, along with the original Touched.

Cool, yeah, that's the one I found. I notice The Jazz Mags are on it, which is why I suppose it got the attention of people on here. I've grabbed that too, but I think I'll chill out to Touched Two before I try the Japan one.

I think out of the 123 (?) tracks on the original Touched there were probably less than half a dozen that I didn't like. And even those few weren't too bad, from what I remember.

I'm looking forward to getting home tonight and giving the new one a go :)

The Jazz Mags on that compilation has nothing to do with FSOL - it's a different band.
