what is your favorite FSOL/AA track of all time?

Post by ronniedobbs »

with the massive back catalog of music Gary & Brian have done over the years, encompassing so many different styles, I was wondering what track do people here consider their favorites? You have over 25 years of amazing music to choose from, so which period pulls the track that does it the most for you?
play this backwards and you'll hear evil messages

Hard to choose but I'm going to go with My Kingdom. My Kingdom (Part 1) in particular. :)

Hm, for FSOL I would spontaneously say it´s the Dead Cities Album Version of 'Yage', although there will come a lot of alternatives for that when I try to think about it more intensively...

And for AA it´s clearly still "The Galaxial Pharmaceutical" (the 'Mispressed Version' of course) with "World is full of Plankton" ranging close behind, still going nuts for this over-produced-epic-detail-cosmic-rock-opera-craziness, would really love to see them doing something comparable in the future again some time maybe...

This is a difficult question to answer.... but if I had to pick 1, than I might have to say Omnipresence.
Runners-up in no particular order:
1. Yage (Dead Cities version)
2. Turn Around
3. Nomad - Your Love Is Lifting Me (Smart Systems Remix)
4. Lifeforms (Path 5)
5. Slider
6. Amorphous Androgynous - Liquid Insects
Proceed with visual attack.

It's tricky as certain tracks will seem perfect for the particular mood I'm in, but possibly We Have Explosives Part 4 for the pure energy rush I get from listening to it.

Grrr... very tricky... I would have to say Yage from Dead Cities. Pretty much the track that cemented the fact for me that FSOL were no ordinary producers, and hence forth turned me into a fan :)

Impossible to pick, but definite highlights:

Lifeforms
Dirty Shadows
Slider
Her Face... (maybe this)
My Kingdom
Everyone...

newer stuff

Insides

EDIT: funny to see that almost none of the die-hard fans pick PNG as the top track
from the source flows the endless...

'her face forms in summertime' and 'dead skin cells' are my 2 favourite tracks.

very very close by are 'dirty shadows'
'an end of sorts'
'smoking Japanese babe'
'glass'

and when I'm in the mood and have some spare time I love listening to a complete run through of cascade parts 1-5

I find it really hard doing stuff like this. My immediate thought was Yage, then Slider, but wait, Lifeforms Part 2, no My Kingdom Part 1... or perhaps one of the Glaciers or North Arctic... too hard.

Amorphous... it is hard to beat The Galaxial Pharmaceutical, though The Emtpiness of Nothingness, All Is Harvest or The World Is Full of Plankton are up there. See, I've just listed about half of one album...

In terms of Amorphous I'd definitely say Galaxial (Abbey Road) and Plankton are the ones. Agreed that it'd be nice to hear more of that kind of thing from them again - much prefer it to the psych-funk stuff.

Well i must say that i love 99,9% Fsol/AA Stuff , but on my top of songs sounds:

Calcium
Expanded
Papua
Lifeforms path 7
And as all his albums are in 1 mixed set with cuts for me
ISDN
DEAD CITIES
LIFEFORMS
TALES OF EFEDRINA
Are albums that i can listen complete sets without problems of tired

AA STUFF IS FOR DIF STATE OF MIND MORE RELAXING AND SPIRITUAL MOMENTS
But Isness Abbey Road mispres is the best

And for aka stuff

INTELLIGENT COMMUNICATION IS A BIG ep ,love Yunie ep too.
