FSOL To Appear On Solid Steel

Post by LooseLink »

Ahead of the terrific return trip of Coldcut Meets The Orb this week for the radio show's 25th anniversary all year on Solid Steel, Strictly Kev has revealed the following on his website http://djfood.net:

"We will continue celebrating a quarter of a century of ‘the broadest beats’ every week throughout the year with exclusive mixes from: Four Tet, J Rocc, Skream, Kirk DeGiorgio, Trevor Jackson, Chris Carter from Throbbing Gristle, Toddla T, Benji B, Photek, Andy Votel, Z-Trip, Tom Middleton, Richard Dorfmeister, Greg Wilson, DJ Kentaro, James Lavelle, Giles Peterson, Don Letts, Jack Dangers, Future Sound of London, Kid Koala, Luke Vibert, Laurent Garnier, Congo Natty, Gaslamp Killer, Andrew Weatherall, Francois Kevorkian, Fink, Ross Allen, Mixmaster Morris, Manasseh and the first guest to appear on Solid Steel back in 1988, Juan Atkins (and that’s not even all of them…)."

My god, definitely a great time to keep an eye on Solid Steel! So many other good names to turn up as well, also, to repeat myself gleefully, the new Coldcut/Orb collab mix sounds so good!:

Ah, lovely. I'm going to guess something a bit like the earlier EBS mixes then (7 was obviously limited to artists they could use on FSOLDigital).
Quite a list, there.

You know, out of all the radio stations or shows they would of submitted to in the 90's, you would think that Brian and Gary would of attempted to get at least a couple of transmissions onto Solid Steel back in the day... Solid Steel was on Kiss FM when FSOL did those 3 hour mixes, even more than likely they would of tried during the ISDN and Dead Cities tours with the similar, sometimes dark type of jazzy hip hop that people on Solid Steel did. Maybe their mix this year will be one of those transmissions...
