That's a bit of a surprise, he wasn't really that old, and noone seems to know what he died of.

He had his critics, not surprising given the massive amount of music he churned out, but I was quite fond of his stuff with Mixmaster Morris, some of his Dark Side of the Moog stuff with Klaus Schulze, as well as the first album he did with Geir Jenssen.

wtf...

I really liked Namlook... 51 is too soon, way too soon for this kind of man...

RIP Namlook.

Bugger :( I've been impressed with his prolific output, but haven't heard much of it, looks like a better time than any to start listening to more, R.I.P

I only discovered this yesterday, and like everyone else was pretty shocked! Quite a young guy really, so its a massive shame...
I can thoroughly recommend his ambient series entitled "Air", especially "Air 2", this album is a masterpiece. The track "Je Suis Triste Et Seul Ici" in particular 8-)
His stuff with Klaus Schulze is also pretty awesome, "The dark side of the Moog"
schade, as they'd say over here in Germany :(

Pete

I found out about it the day it happened, it was a shock for me too and I really couldnt believe it as he was very young, dont know if he was dealing with health problems. Its very sad, firstly because such a man is gone, and secondly the world of electronic music has become a lot poorer.

I dont know who has taken over the FAX label now, but a compilation of various artists is being built as a tribute to Pete Namlook with artists who have released on FAX and not only...
