Mind Maps 5

Post by Enofa »

Radosław Kochman aka Sundial Aeon has announced the forthcoming fifth volume of the Mind Maps series on his Facebook. Not sure he was meant to mention it yet, but the info is out there now.

It's out in late June, anyway, official date will be announced by Touched soon.

Pre-show warm-up. Field recordings, answerphone message, spoken bits, synth sweeps, a few recognisable environments moments.

808 State - Afro Macossa (Yage Mix)
Yunx - Tik Tak (Yage Mix)
Sundial Aeon - Stillness of the Morning (Yage Mix)
iNFO - Symbiotic Frequencies (Yage Mix)
Pentagrams of Discorda - In the Sky Above (Yage Mix)
Anders Ilar - Nova (Yage Mix)
Dron - eNcod3 (Yage Mix)
Enofa - Receiving Signals (Yage Mix)
FSOL - Viewed from the Middle of a Lake
FSOL - Cold Ditch
CNC - Virga (Yage Mix)
CNC - Damaged Cells (Yage Mix)
Dailed - Martis (Yage Mix)
Humanoid - Urban Slip Road (Exit 7)
FSOL - Clouding of Consciousness

808 State mix is a banger, very Humanoid-ish. My track is a pretty dark, heavy one. Viewed from the Middle of a Lake was typical piano ambience, Clouding Consciousness features some choral ambience - sounds from an Archive 9 track, I think? - before going quite intimidating. Otherwise generally typical MM-style melancholic IDM.
Barely any voicemails this time, mostly just crossfades between tracks, which is interesting.

Bonus mix:
People talking about hearing a DAT
Enofa - Ancient Brickwork (Yage Mix) from Trip Maps 2
Kingslan - Everyday Psychedelics from Trip Maps 2
Bossa nova type track... I did hear Trip Maps 2 a while ago but can't remember it, I reckon this is either on it or an outtake though!
Weird track, synth sequences and breaks but they all sound really far away for ages, despite being normal volume. Nicely strange, atmospheric track.

Trip Maps 2:
The 2nd outing from Trip MAPS
A psychedelic companion to the Mind Maps series..
This time a lot of research went into finding old ( 1970s ) and unreleased Reel to Reel tapes in particular multi-track masters ....
All remixed and remastered by YAGE ...

I went to this link and it said it hasn't started yet? Did I miss it? I am in Texas and not sure what time zone Touched is in (like if it converts automatically).

Bought both the CD's but its fun to catch live!

You missed it - the bonus mix ended about 20 minutes before your post.

MM5 is so good! can't wait to get this in the post. Only thing missing this time was a t-shirt to go along with it. :D

Enjoy!

I remember MM3...I got out of work early on a Friday and was able to stream the whole show during my commute home, that was really cool! Bummed I missed this one (not by much :/) but will listen when the disc arrives (in a month).

Its funny, ISDN was a new way to distribute music everywhere at the same time. These Touched shows follow the same spirit but the time zone thing gets in the way. The more things change the more they stay the same?

Thank you once again for grabbing these - remembered at 10pm last night 'OH MY GOD THAT THING IS ON AND I NEED TO BUY THOSE CDS OH MY GOD IVE MISSED EVERYTHING' and ran to buy the two CDs.

I absolutely love the pre-show long-form ambient mixes of MM4 & this one. I'd definitely love to see/hear future albums with this 'time is no essence' pacing - it actually reminds me of the very first Environments album and what I thought that series would've continued like.

You're welcome! I listened to the entire MM5 stream today, and that's just a lovely long ambient intro. I need to go back and listen to the MM4 stream again.
