Re: Environments 4 - clips now on YouTube

Murmurations doesn't sound quite so out of place in context. It seems to start very dark and head slightly lighter. Sounds very collagey, and with quite a few 'performed' bits rather than just sample loops. And I can't say I recognise anything here (apart from the Amorphous rooks cawing in Long Day... which is incredibly different to the YouTube one), which means for all intents and purposes this is going to be the 'new album' for us.

Needless to say I am very fucking excited right now.

I wonder what Graham's input on this was. Oh, and that back cover is a lovely image too, seems to fit the front nicely. I wonder what's in the booklet.

Three days until this arrives (hopefully).

So there are beats, though nothing that could be deemed remotely danceable to. Architektur is a bit crazy in a way I didn't think they would do again as FSOL.

So No Man's Land, Long Day and Vast Landscape were on EBS 7.

At what point do you call it "The New Album"? When Gaz talks about it? This doesn't sound like an archive recording in any way to me.

Nice that Buggy G. Riphead is still doing the artwork, they wear him like a comfort blanket!

Listening again, there are definitely hints of the Another Fairytale Ending/Her Tongue is Like a Jellyfish/The Isness end of Amorphous in this, and lots of very acoustic sounding drum loops and other instruments. I reckon this album is going to do a really good job of summing up exactly where both Gaz and Brian are right now, musically, in one comfortable package, which is something I wasn't sure would be possible.

Ah yes, that one was around a few months ago, before we had the release date. I think it also features briefly on the video for Murmurations that Brian uploaded. Which, by the way, features a slightly different section of the song:

What were the bits from 2 that you heard?

while listening to FIBRILLATION i heard the same flute sample from Glacier (part 1) in E2, even though the part used here is of a few secs.

FIBRILLATION -> 1:13 - 1:20

Glacier (part 1) -> flute plays throughout the whole track, you can spot the exact part used in FIBRILLATION if you listen carefully.

Ive checked it several times, i think its the one.

After hearing the juno clips I predict a rather brilliant album. The second one is my favourite so far, just awesome. Most of the tracks seem to be in the vein of stuff like 'Summers Dream' or 'Sunken Ships', exactly the kind of sound I expected from an album consisting mostly of newer stuff. 'Architektur' is fucking weird, and yes, 'Murmurations' seems to fit quite well into the album context. Oh man, just can't wait...

Ah! That's what I referred to as a Lifeforms flutey bit, I knew I recognised it but couldn't place where from.

The rhythmic beeping sound in Long Day can be heard during the segue between Glass and Yage.
