Re: FSOL: Touched - Music for Macmillan Cancer Support
Well, i generally hate put tags to the music, but for honesty i used term "electronica" because in Spain say electronica as fem genere on Linguistic only , in Spain not exist any electronic, only can be "electronico" or "electronica".
And yes this is a simple term for a long amp espectrum that never ends,i´m happy to have some little programs and knowledges from my poor and not elit lifeform, and happy to have more than a simple REASON or simple piano on my stuff for make music, but i know that you can make nice music with a simple instrument and not spend millions, your music can be better with lots and lots of eqipment but if the mind of the artist is a empy blackhole never will be really great...but well in other hand we have to Justin Bieber as toy of musical industry that maybe with time would be can make music cause the child learn very very soon played guitar or piano,no.

Electronic body goat Gipsy Street Tipical Spanish Music:
The goat, the ladder & The Keys
In the Spanish Rights Society you can only put your music on line as electronica electroacoustica, not ambient, not electronic, only topic generes as rock,pop,flamenco,latina...no much where you choice.

Yeah, I dont like labeling things either, but I use "electronica" more often than "electronic music". It might sound stupid but according to Etymology, languages and words evolved according to geographic location of people and has to do with the ease of pronouncing sounds due to the hot and cold climate conditions. Like the word "music" has many versions . . . "musica", "mousiki" etc. I dont know if this is the case here though.
By the way, many people hate the word IDM. I personally like it but there are people who cant stand it. I remember a few years ago I had made a post on WATMM looking for plugins to make complex rhythmic patterns, when I used the word IDM to describe what I wanted I even got told off by some users.

Well i think people hare tell about "electronica" as a vast and no sense tag for refer to electronic music , as say downtempo for all ambient or minimal house music, and as you say D , for mediterranean people the meaning electronica is diferent to other countrysides.
And as say Pandemonium electronic music is all that get a plug for play,i think that still don´t know how express music made from the electrical machines in combination with the human thoughts...Electrothink?

hah what daily mail was it?
infected and tara reid?
i can't be held accountable if that was the only source to break that story ;p
electronica is just like...easier to type and say
and for me it's easy to put that blanket over music that is 100% electronic
i don't count electric guitar bass etc. because that's still a replication of what's being produced acoustically
or whatever proper terminology i might use there

Re: FSOL: Touched - Music for Macmillan Cancer Support
i dont know what music journalists or whatever mean when they say ‘electronica’ but to me it seems like it just means music that is mostly synthesized and in typically wholly-electronic genres like techno and whatever
Re: FSOL: Touched - Music for Macmillan Cancer Support
Aye I don't mind it either. It's sort of a catch-all genre of the musical hierarchy that encompasses everything from ambient to drum & bass to techno to glitch
Re: FSOL: Touched - Music for Macmillan Cancer Support
I usually call FSOL electronica, just because I don't really know what else to call them - especially as I don't want to have to list loads of genres to cover it all...
I don't worry much about genres though - doesn't mean much other than giving a vague idea of the style of music.

Was hoping for a new beat track, but I'll take ambience from the masters any day.
