Run Wrake (1965-2012)

Post by Nmesh »

Guys, don't know if this was mentioned yet (apologies if it was) - and I'm a couple months late on this, but Run Wrake, who did the artwork and video for We Have Explosive, passed away in October. I wasn't ever really familiar with any of his other work, but he's got some really cool stuff on Youtube. Here's a brief article about him, including some of his videos:

I've always loved the video for We Have Explosive, it works perfectly with the track. I did not know who was Run Wrake until today, I discover and I love his work. Thanks NMesh.

Sad to hear. Although the aesthetic of the WHE art and video always seemed very out of keeping with the group's other stuff, it all fits the track brilliantly.
That's a terrible age to die, too.

Just went through a good number of his videos in the past hour, WOW! The M2 commercial seemed vaguely familiar actually... Films like this one really have that W.H.E. look going on. I'll leave you all to discover the rest of his work. Glad I took the time to explore it. R.I.P. sir.

You may have spotted his work on MTV during the 90's... he did stuff for Howie B. and even U2 (seriously)

from the source flows the endless...

Woah, I had no idea it was the same guy that did Rabbit - I love that short film (and thanks for the video in a decent resolution - I only had some hideous RealMedia video from back in the day)

Was it "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" off the Batman Forever soundtrack? I used to love that video when I was a kiddo. I know it was a cartoon, but I don't remember it looking like the style of these others.

Nah nah he didn't do that (though it does look like he would of, there's some weird shit in it) He did the concert visuals for the Vertigo tour:

Besides Explosive, I remember seeing the similar Howie B. vids he did on Rage, my young mind shut down and rebooted into a rainbow that day :P

His videos were so unique and trippy, damn creative... R.I.P
