10 years of FSOLDigital

Post by Ross »

Missed this when it came along actually - FSOLDigital opened just over ten years ago, on 19th March 2007.

To make you all feel old, the gap between then and now is the same as the gap between We Have Explosive and the opening of FSOLDigital.

Happy birthday FSOL independence.

From our view it looks like a highly successful venture. I'm hoping that is the case from their perspective, and that it continues for a long time, it seems to have given them a fair degree of artistic freedom, maybe financial too.

Yes, I think the band are happy with how it's going along. According to Brian sales have generally improved as time's gone on, and as the original archives sold pretty well I think that's got to be a good sign. It's a shame the site isn't registered with the Official Chart people, you only need about a thousand sales to get into the top 100 these days so I'm sure they could have totted up a few more chart placements if they were.

The UK Official Charts now includes streams as sales now. So if they'd get them on Spotify, Deezer, Google Play Music, Apple Music and/or Tidal, even if they're not purchased they'd be counted as part of the sales figures (Think 150 streams = 1 sale)

I am and I'm almost 100% certain that I'll always will be against Spotify (and the likes of it).
Streaming music is just ... bad - the industry invented this to fuck up the artist further.
And the art aspect is at the lowest point... and I'll stop writing now...
You're doin' too much, do less.

ok, my head and beard are almost grey now... going to look like Gandalf the white next ten FSOLDigital years :D

-- the good thing is that the band have the control of their Art, they do what they want -- priceless freedom :)
