What are you listening to?
Re: What are you listening to?
Ulrich Schnauss - no further ahead than today
Quite the same like his last record, which I liked very much, so the same here. Cheesy as hell again with a thousand massive reverbed, shimmering synth-/shoegaze guitar-sounds piled to a mile high mountains of tracks. When pathetic vocals add to the sonic overkill, things scratch the boundries of good taste I like the fact that he has established his distinctive sound, which a lot of people surely may find superficial and flatulently overblown, no doubt, this one´s clearly for the cheese lovers

I always felt I would like Ulrich more than I do, but something never clicked. Then he joined Tangerine Dream, and so far his material with TD has had lots of his shimmery shoegaze sound with all the classic TD elements that suddenly make his music work properly for me.
Re: What are you listening to?
I like the new Ulrich Schnauss album. I thought his last album had a darker tone than any of his others and this one feels a bit like his older, brighter stuff. Personally, I could do without the vocals, but that said they don't really spoil it. Very good album over all.
Also got the new Esben and the Witch and Crippled Black Phoenix albums, which are excellent.

Yeah way - I still can't believe it myself. His latest two Electronica albums were amazing enough - but then he announced the Third Oxygen album and is playing new Oxygene pieces on this tour. It's gonna be fucking amazing.

Re: What are you listening to?
It was an amazing experience
He played stuff from every decade.
The set-up was pretty simple (well, simple in Jarre terms) -- yet it offered so much.
A big led screen in the back, a dozen of holographic lasers, and 6 moveable led screens in the front (like, the musicians were between screens) - making real 3D experience
He begun with earthquakes - literally - powerful 2 second waves of insane 20Hz bass which shook the clothes on our bodies.
The track he made with Snowden sounded really good LIVE.
He played Oxygene 8 with some tweaked google glasses so you could see everything played live on the screens through his eyes
[ ]
He played the laser-harp / rocked a whole track on guitar (wtf!? man!!) - and basically blew our brains.
He's 68 years old and has energy of at least three 23 year old rockers
PS - oh yeah, he played the new unreleased Oxygene 17 and one more piece from the 3rd Oxygene album.
PPS - and, the fan-pit tickets were 20 euros - dirt cheap even by our eastern block poor standards. The city of Skopje was celebrating an anniversary on the liberating from the fascists in WW2 - so the city covered a big chunk of Jarre's cut

Did you have to tackle Russell Haswell as part of the set or were your ears spared for the evening ?tryptych wrote:Saw Autechre this Monday.

Dead Cities - what a trip
RasaSound - Beginnings
Seedy, I think you might like this: http://rasasound.com/
Only problem is, he lists influences as Ozrics, Shpongle and Ott and this music sounds almost exactly like them (particularly Ozrics, who he drums for)... which then makes me ask... even though it's really good music, is there really much point in it existing?
