Notes:
Originally released in 1991, with re-releases in 1996, 2001, 2002 and 2007.

The "Andrew Weatherall Remix" on the 12" is two minutes longer than the versions on the 7" and CD.

The 1996 US re-release features a holographic cover.

Composition by Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans. Produced by Yage.

An exclusive mix, combining the 'Original 12" Mix' and 'Dumb Child of Q Mix' appears on Accelerator. The 'Original 12" Mix' appears on Teachings from the Electronic Brain: The Best of FSOL. the 'Dumb Child Of Q' mix appears on Earthbeat.

After appearing in the film Cool World, 'Papua New Guinea' began to get wider exposure, and eventually received a more deluxe re-release, featuring several new interpretations by the band, as well as remixes from the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Graham Massey and Hamish McDonald. It was this release that made the group well known (indeed, it is still their most famous track to date), and is responsible for interest from Virgin, and the success of the rest of their career.

Charts:
UK singles chart (1992): number 22.
