Off Land - Overlook

http://stasisrecordings.com/Site/SR017.html

Overlook is a companion album to Eventide Passage (Released May 2012 on Enpeg Digital [EN57] - http://enpeg.com/discography.php?catno=57 ). Eventide Passage was finished in early 2011. Overlook started as a collection of b-sides and alternate mixes of tracks recorded during the Eventide Passage sessions. These b-sides and audio scraps were expanded on, remixed, and reworked during the rest of 2011. The result is a sound that is both a continuation and a progression of the sound found throughout Eventide Passage. Like Eventide Passage, Overlook is an album of ambient electronic music to drive to. It is a soundtrack to those long lonely drives. Each track is titled after text on road signs spotted throughout my travels.

I got this on Monday, gave it a couple of listens and I think this might be my second favourite Off Land release behind Anniversary. It feels really compact and to the point, in a way a lot of ambient music isn't. Excellent use of the beats and a good variation in the tracks. Really good stuff.

Cheers Ross! Glad you like it. Thanks for picking it up. Yes, it's a lot less of a difficult listen than Eventide Passage is. I think the more prominent beats help.

Yeah, it definitely feels like an ambient techno album rather than an ambient one, which probably helps to draw me in a bit. But I think the key thing is the quality - there's not a note out of place on there (not that your other records are full of clunkers - but obviously I prefer some tracks to others - this time it's all consistently great though).

New free EP for you all!

Image
Off Land - Circadian

This new four track EP is a based around the theme of cycles. Three of the tracks are brand new, including the nearly twenty minute title track. Cicadas (Originally titled Outer) is a track that came out of the session that produced the 2011 X:F System - Microvast rework album, Microcosm. This release keeps with the melodic Off Land style but it is decidedly more experimental and at times brooding. The result is an expression in repetition, time, rhythm, and flow...

01) Circadian [19:42]
02) Records [04:26]
03) Greywater [04:33]
04) Cicadas [05:01]

Re: Off Land thread - Kickstarter Project for new album

Kickstarter Project: Tidewater Pulse

I have a new grand experiment. I'm crowd funding the production of my next album. I hope you all like it! :D

Image
For giving your support and more information please visit: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/100 ... ater-pulse

"Tidewater Pulse is a new album of electronic ambient music from Off Land. It will be Off Land's seventh LP and fourth official album. It is also to be the first Off Land album ever to be released physically. This will only happen with your support! The album revolves around the concept of the water cycle, as well as the expectations and excitement of travel. In combination, this album channels oceanic voyages and the never ending journey of water molecules. Sixteen tracks make up the Tidewater Pulse sessions. Nine to twelve tracks will be included on the final album, while the remaining pieces will be on the bonus EP that all backers will receive after this project is funded. I started composing this album in 2009, and it was finished and mixed in early December 2012."
