haha we live in a pretty sad world sometimes
i've never divulged my music preferences to my employers
my answer is pretty much always...."oh just weird stuff like jazz"

safe answer is the best answer in the tightass corporate environment i'm subjected to

i 1000% wish i could be doing somthing different but there is just no way i could deal with the pay cut
so i'm stuck and miserable weeeeeeee! "enjoying" my job has sadly never been a consideration or expectation.

my dream would have always been music
i wish i went to school to be a master guitar player rather than a numbers cruncher
always have dreamed of being one of those A&R type music talent scouts too
just the guy that listens to everything and hits up gigs looking for new acts for his label to shape and sign.
perhaps even producer if that's the term...i've always felt i could offer up plenty of good advice and effort into polishing and refining someone else's work (collaborative obviously)

oh wellz i can't complain too too much
literally i AM living the dream in so many ways these days with my little man.
more than anything in this world the biggest dream ever since I can remember was to carry on my name via a son and so i've already got one super awesome mini me to help me live this out :)

I completed a bachelor of Chemical (or 'Process') Engineering about 2.5 years ago. I've been with the same company for nearly 5 years, working as... um... well technically I should be putting together dynamic simulations of industrial processes, for the purpose of training, resource conservation and general optimisation, but for the last 6 months or so I've pretty much been putting web pages together and general IT stuff as part of our training packages.

It's a small company and I work on a casual basis (as many or as little hours as I like) from home and get a pretty decent hourly rate. I actually brought a couple of friends on-board (casually) for our current job too, so that's all pretty cool. It's basically 100% computer work though and I'm spending too much time in front of this screen and there's certain difficulties with working from home. The work isn't particularly stimulating or satisfying either so I'm quite keen for change.

I'm currently saving seriously (for the first time) for a vehicle and should have one within a couple of months. That should open up my options and give me a bit more to think about and work with. I'd like a job outside of the city, or at least with an element of nature in it, and something physical or at least with some physical movement. Not sure whether to continue with engineering or try something different.

Probably wrote a bit much, really, but there ya go.

It's all casual and cool Down-Under isn't it :)
I have some relative over there, maybe I'll end up someday there too...
as the world is moving towards bad bad times...

I don't have much to compare it to but I guess it's pretty laid back here.
Yeah Australia is probably a good place to be if you're thinking about that kinda stuff. Buddies with the US, kinda-buddies with China (or we're their quarry, at least), low population density, moderately well off economically, decent food system, away from many other nations...

Well, you can comfort yourself with the fact that it takes way more than talent to make living outta music nowadays. EVERYBODY makes music. The amount of music online is just simply overwhelming,

haha right??

and that's really why i ended up not going that route

as much as i have a passion for this or that ultimately my view of a job or career is to make MONEY

the concept of enjoying your job is pretty foreign to me sadly

it's just sacrifice out of necessity

side note - good god does it sometimes suck to be living in "a man's world" (if that's even f'n true).
what i mean is.....it is effing unreal that we spend most of our lives in the workplace. my little man is growing up and doing something new RIGHT now and i'm not there to share it with him. I'm the dude that he sees for about 2 hours on most days even though i love him more than anything in the world.
it's f'n depressing. if my woman could make the big bucks i would be mr. mom in a HEARTBEAT.

ah life :-/

I'd be happy going back to how things were when people had their own skill and trade, something to ooffer that they excel at.rather.than just helping.some hideous corporation make profit in order to pay the bills.

something like that maybe

idk all said i just feel as a man like i'm a slave. MOST of my life is and will be dedicated to something i loathe.

my woman complains about feeling like a housework slave but this would make her a slave to her family - which personally i can't think of a better "master" :P

i guess one could say that ultimately the work i do every day directly benefits my family ($$) but in the end i'm still torn from them for 10 hours/day.

ah well.....time to get on with my day and stop pouting
it's the manly thing to do!

The current trend is that the corporations drain the workers till the last drop and when they burn out and quit, they just hire another. This is exactly what happens when you let the corporations set the laws. They're pushing this agenda everywhere, and people just take it.

What really sickens me is that Americans are so brainwashed with the evils of "socialism" that they attack the unions which are supposed to stand up for them and protect their rights as a worker. And the worst part is... the more this goes on, the more power they gain and the more apathetic and depressed people get.

Materialism is the root of all evil here. And, I think, on a certain level this goes way deeper.. as the media tries to shove fear, hate and other BS down your throat which causes the people to divide and... oops, sorry, wrong meeting :D
from the source flows the endless...
