Field Recordings / Soundscapes?

Post by Jack Absorb. »

I know this isn't strictly "music" as such, but I'm wondering if anyone has a good resource for field recordings or soundscapes? When I was at uni I managed to rent out all 40-odd discs of the BBC sound effects library and rip them all, but most of them turned out to be pretty rubbish unless you were making an episode of The Archers. Some nice weather or nature sounds - pattering rain, gently burbling water, insects chirping in the wind, all that kind of nonsense - would be particularly welcome.
