Tell me about it, I honestly thought it was a misprint when I read that this was made in '69:

As featured in many Monstrous Psychedelic Bubbles type mixes (I think)

For those that haven't seen it before, the BBC put out an awesome documentary about the Radiophonic Workshop about 10 years back. It's about an hour long, covers a heck of a lot of the history of the place and key players and is all done in a subtle tongue in cheek way -

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Part 6

(ps I still have no idea who or what the creepy guy is doing who is seen in a lot of the backgrounds of shots !)

thanx man, have watched something similar but havent watched this one, looks like an incredible doc.

I have always been fascinated by early experimental music and the origin of synthesis. how sound is designed from a simple sine oscillator can be turned into any kind of sound by adding harmonics and other kinds of oscillators and stuff, or other kinds of synthesis, like granular. Or use of field recordings for sound design and the techniques for making 3D sound effects, like those we hear in movies and stuff. The essence of using various types of effects themselves to create a crazy 3D world.

Im really turned on this stuff, and my recent discovery of Ian Helliwell's website

http://ianhelliwell.co.uk/tone-generation.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and his programs about exploring electronic music have made me want to know more. So all these peculiar and unearthly bizarre and beautiful sounds that we hear here in doc (and apparently everywhere in FSOL's music) and this sound design techniques described here is my weak point. Makes me wish somebody opened up here a new forum section about electronic music production, so all of guys can contribute and discuss various issues. im obviously going insane :)
