What are you listening to?
Re: What are you listening to?
For some reason I can't get this bloody song out of my head:
My brain normally filters out lyrics but they're just great !

Can't believe I'm actually posting this, I must be dreaming, dead, or maybe hell has actually frozen over...

Listening to the My Bloody Valentine Youtube channel where they've stuck the followup to Loveless in its entirety for fans to try before they buy. Well, there goes the one of the longest running jokes in the music business. It actually sounds really good surprisingly (to me at least), even though it does sound shockingly similar to Loveless.
Great comment on there: "Awesome. Can't wait for the followup. 2035 is looking like a great year for music."

I noticed it yesterday Pete,
I'll give it a listen these days

You're doin' too much, do less.
Re: What are you listening to?
Highlights for me (so far anyway, there's just so much to take in) - The second half of irlite (get 0) sounding like the Terminator blasting his way through a ghost house, the cheeky beats slowly being spectrally squashed away in vekoS, and the entirety of bladelores
And that's just disk one.

That's some weird stuff, the new Autechre... :s Never really understood much of their "music" that came out after the quite brilliant Amber.

Re: What are you listening to?
Been listening through the Essential Mixes, made it through the dance heavy '93, FSOL was definitely the best mix of that year.. (Weatherall comes second, bit experimental here and there) Now into the more interesting '94, where they branch out abit more.
The show turns 20 this year btw.

Re: What are you listening to?
'93 Essential Mix season is a short one, prepare to devote over 100 hours to 1994. There's some really good ones, but don't expect it to be any less dance-heavy. (This isn't a bad thing in my opinion - 2 of my favorites you'll come across are Laurent Garnier's mix and also one by Tino Lugano (and Simon Gibb, Colin Patterson, and Hooligan X). Both are incredible house mixes. The quality on all my copies varies... Some are horrible rips and I'd probably be able to enjoy them more if they sounded better. But my favorite Essential Mix from 1994 (besides FSOL + Fripp) has to be MASSIVE ATTACK. Its straight up old school hip hop and its PERFECT. I jam out to that mix on a regular basis. I think I may even know the lyrics to all the songs. haha. And when you get to 1995, you've got an incredible set by LTJ Bukem, amongst others. I could go on about Goldie and Grooverider's mixes too but that's later down the line. ENJOY dude... lots of good music to be heard.
Proceed with visual attack.

Re: What are you listening to?
Currently spending a week with my parents and only had room for a handful of CDs, so this week has been, on rotation...
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Roddy Woomble - Listen to Keep
XTC - Skylarking
Mike Oldfield - Heaven's Open
Chris Watson - El Tren Fantasma
The latter comes highly recommended to anybody interested in field recording/soundscape based stuff.

Re: What are you listening to?
Timeless music, probably my neighbors went nuts when i was listening to ...and Justice for All Every time i listen to it I just wonder, "God what are they doin there? Where is the energy coming from that drives this music? How did they write this?" Only "One" is a whole album and story itself. Headbanger all my life, and for a lifetime
