True, it is definitely good music, I'm sure you'll love it. But, as I already have all the Ozric and Shpongle albums, I don't really feel the need to have this as well, as good as it is.

haha you ain't kidding with this one
honestly i hear little ott/shpongle......this has a really strong ozric sound
makes enough sense considering he's in the band but yeah....i'll need to put in a 2nd listen to decide if i can embrace it
it's just a subconscious thing that tells you "well this is Ed's music, therefore this just isn't original enough" or something like that

so yeah.....i'm wondering who the rest of the band is????

I get the impression one guy made it all, or at least most of it. But yeah, I wasn't exaggerating when I said it sounded a lot like Ozrics. There are some Sphongle sounds in there too, but then again Shpongle sound a bit like Ozrics at times, so maybe they're still just Ozric sounds really :P Don't get me wrong, it's very good, he's obviously a talented musician, but it's just so similar to other stuff I have I don't think I have a place for it. I thought you'd get a kick out of it though :)

Andrey Dergatchev - The Return

Beautiful film score on ECM, mixture of modern classical, ambience, field recordings and snippets of dialogue. Incredibly bleak and haunting.

Chemical Bros are Awesome man :)

Don't forget to check out their videos too, they're like mini-movies with weird themes :)

They did have a 'dark period' - or going too commercial for about 5 years (Push The Button / We Are The Night albums) - I thought we lost them for good, but they made a nice comeback with Further in 2010.

Also, look for the 2011/2012 Don't Think - Live At Fuji Rock Festival - the actual concert is madness, Japanese people going out of their minds :)

yeah there was one album i questioned a few tunes on but i'll get used to them. think it was an earlier one than the two you mention actually.
really every one had a few tracks with just stellar production and i love all that

did see parts of video for one whole album forget which. i was trying to work at the time as well though so my screen was often occupied

i will look for that gig ;)

The Flaming Lips - Ozcy Mlody

Nice, trippy record. Very electronic, ambient sounding. Continues somehow the sound from the last album "The Terror", but with a less desolate mood and more peaceful, dreamy sounding.

Still haven't seen them live :(
Thinking about it, they're probably the last '90s electronic beat band that I haven't seen live...

I'm not 100% sure what to make of it yet. I mean it obviously feels very much like one of his '70s records, but there's a digital sheen to it which lessens the impact, and it feels a touch more guitar-oriented than those classics. Also the main recurring melody is almost identical to one from his 1996 album Voyager, which is difficult not to hear once you realise it.
I mean, I'm glad it's not just a re-write like Tubular Bells II, but it's not hit me like my favourites of his yet. Time will tell I suppose.

well sure it need not be on one of his best or whatever especially at this age

it does have a glossier less warm feeling to it but i think that's also to be expected these days
