I stumbled across the re-emergence of Ozrics ambient offshoot Nodens Ictus before Christmas, which now seems to be just Ed Wynne and his son Silus Neptune. They did a short UK tour, which sadly came nowhere near to me, but now they've put a new album out The Cozmic Key.

It's actually quite a pleasant listen, and contains a new version of live favourite Chickens in the Mist. I was kind of expecting it to be a vaguely awful sub-shpongle generic atrocity for some reason, but it's actually quite an enjoyable listen. I'm unfamiliar with any of the Ozrics output since about 1998 but this leaves me tempted to give their latest a go, or perhaps Silas Neptune's solo effort which appeared at a similar time.

Not sure whether the band are relocating back to the UK or not, there seems to be more activity over this way of late. Perhaps they're just trying to weigh where it's best to be to avoid apocalyptic weather conditions that destroy their equipment/studio.

I follow Ozrics on FB and I didn't see them post about this, which seems a bit weird. The first Nodens Ictus album is pretty good, but not as good as most OT stuff, in my opinion, but I'll check this new one out anyway. CDs available on Bandcamp, so I might just plunge for one of those. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! :)

Oh and I love a lot of the new OT stuff - their last album (Technicians of the Sacred) is one of their best!

Love me some Bush. They're still going strong, albeit a bit more polished and less raw than they once sounded.

FSOL - Cascade
Lifeforms (1994)

Time for my much-needed fix. This album version still beats the full-length EP in my opinion. And I love how "Among Myselves" ends in a sort of a similar way as it begins.

Addicted for life.

The single version is such a big, lush, gorgeous version that I still don't quite know why I prefer the stripped back album version, but I do. And yeah, the opening section reprise at the end of 'Among Myselves' is a wonderful moment.

A Perfect Circle - Eat The Elephant

Hauntingly beautiful new record. More electronic and ambient sounding than the first two albums with lots of piano. But as much as striking both emotionally and lyrical.

"Disillusioned" alone is such a masterpiece of a song.

Gotta check that new APC out.. thinking of seeing them live next month actually (Bardo Pond and TOKiMONSTA being the same day, WTF!) :)

lately

Love And Rockets (just getting into these guys, I actually kinda prefer them to Bauhaus)
Hybrid (new album coming soon from these guys after 8 years, love 'em)
TOKiMONSTA (there's some crap on this, but also some really good stuff)
Rollins Band (lol, but I love the guitar work on many songs)

now

Robert Rich - Biode

he's throwing some beats into his usual soundscapes, love the organic, warm production style. He's always pretty good IMO.
