The journey from Dead Cities to Amorphous in easy steps:

Essential Mix 1995*
We Have Explosive EP (particularly Part 3)
From the Archives tracks from the '1997 sessions' (probably mostly recorded in '96 ha) - Sendero Luminoso, A Sweltering Heat, Private Psyche and Inner Life, Exploded Funk, Popadom, Gyrated, Exchanged, plus the Glacier tracks from Environments 2
The last 15 minutes of this 1997 ISDN performance
Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble 1997
Papua New Guinea Translations
The Isness (ideally the Abbey Road / mispress version, which is slightly more electronic)
Alice in Ultraland

By Alice the transformation was complete.

*this Essential Mix was done around the time they started work on Dead Cities, and it's like a continuation of the percussive/jazzy/funky elements of ISDN - Gaz has mentioned since that this show was actually their first interest in psychedelia (The Beatles, The Doors etc. are featured on it) - in a slightly skewed way, Dead Cities can actually be seen as a side-step on the journey from ISDN to Amorphous. Either way, it provides context for their expansion on these influences.

Welcome to the board, anyway!

There are certainly parts of the fanbase who don't get on with the recent Amorphous stuff at all, particularly some of the guitarry stuff. There are some definite FSOL-like tracks in there - The Wicker Doll, Her Tongue is Like a Jellyfish, High Tide On the Sea of Flesh...

Are you guys also involved with sharing music ? I just recently joined up with the Sound Cloud and added FSOL and related shows there.

Hi Ross, I remember your name from the FSOL LIST...good to see you and others here.

I think there's only myself and Pete from the FSOLLIST these days.
In terms of sharing FSOL stuff, it's probably best to double check before posting anything - the band & management read the forum so anything that's legally available is a no-no.

Was still on dialup back then - a live set would take me several days on and off before I finally burnt it to CD. It was like the thing had actually arrived by post with how long it took !

Yeah, the Disenchanted FTP was my intro to the FSOL mixes too :)
I was also on dial-up, but the faculty internet was super fast (well, for 2002) so I was lucky :)

In 2003 I seem to remember there being a web front end (or mirror maybe) of the video section of the FTP, had just arrived at uni and remember being a very happy bunny at the speeds I got: Got the whole Teachings From The Electronic Brain at top quality whilst out attending a lecture as opposed to waiting days for an hour long mp3 ...
