Blackhill Transmitter - 2nd

Post by dell1972 »

LOOK!!! *Points wildly at fsoldigital*

2nd by Blackhill Transmitter is available here.

MP3 and FLAC release only.

"Second helpings from Blackhill Transmitter - continuing the sound of hauntology
The once active transmitter / receiver now lies silent albeit for the faint crackling and buzzing as if ghosts from the past still wish to be heard"

One thing worth mentioning. Two actually. While the mp3 version is £3.50, the flac version is £5. With the flac version, you get both the flac and mp3 versions.

Interesting to note also that the tracks on the EBS 8 podcast are not listed, or at least not in their given name (I really need to listen to that one again).

Cool. Haven't got the first one yet! I wonder if they'll add that in FLAC too?

Very different feel to this one. Loko Motive is fantastic, it's very Neu!

Exciting. Going out in a few minutes, this is straight onto the iPod.
Surprised we haven't got EMS : Piano Two at the same time as this...

Maybe tomorrow eh?! Personally, if I was responsible for putting out releases like this I'd probably not put out more than one a week. It's easier for things to not get as much of a chance. For example, the Sand Sound Folly and Suburban Domestic releases were kind of obscured by the original Blackhill Transmitter release and the EMS:Piano EP.

What do I know though? Maybe in terms of sales people are more likely to get the lot in one go?

You're right there.

Stylistically, some of this is definitely different to the first one, although the overall mood is definitely similar. Generally the FSOLDigital side projects seem to separated by instrumentation or genre (circuit-bent for Polemical, dub for Suburban Domestic, etc.), but it seems Blackhill is all based around the abandoned transmitter, so any genre will do I suppose. Some of this second EP is really fleshed out, could almost be FSOL really. Nice.

Purchased! (alongside with the green Enviro shirt and AIU poster :))

Seems like the FLACs come with mp3's too, so it saves me the effort of converting them for my POS old phone. Also 1280px artwork included.

Niiice. Can't wait to hear this tomorrow when I'm actually in a proper state to really listen..

Loko Motive originally appeared as Tenderlokomotive by Superheads on FSOLDigital Sampler 2.

Good spot Ross, I haven't listened to the 2nd Sampler more than twice...
So, does this mean that Superheads was BHT in the working?

Possibly, although the track on the first part is pretty different, more psych-rock sounding if anything.
