Track on the video seems to be Field of Flowers with extra drums over the top. Wonder if there's any exclusive content and whether it'll be released?

Indie Game Mushroom 11 Will Feature Music from Electronica Supergroup The Future Sound of London

Indie developer Untame is announcing that their upcoming puzzle platformer Mushroom 11 will feature an ambient soundtrack by supergroup The Future Sound of London (FSOL), who pioneered electronic dance music in the 1990s.

The licensed music can be heard in-game this Wednesday, March 19 through Friday, March 21 during hands-on demos at the Game Developers' Conference in San Francisco, where Mushroom 11 is an Independent Game Festival finalist for the prestigious Excellence in Design award. A public demo will follow at PAX East in Boston, April 11-13

Mushroom 11 is a game about destruction. In an empty, desolate world, you are an amorphous organism that can only move by destroying its own cells. Removed cells immediately regrow elsewhere on the organism, so you can move, reshape, and even split yourself freely. This cerebral gameplay challenges players' logic skills as well as their reflexes, set to ten beautiful and electrifying tracks licensed from FSOL.

"As a fan of The Future Sound of London growing up in the 90s, it is an honor for me to announce this cooperation," says Itay Keren, Mushroom 11's designer. "FSOL's music is a true inspiration for the entirety of my work, including the dark, desolate world of Mushroom 11. I couldn't be prouder about incorporating their music in my game."

Mushroom 11 is under development for PC/Mac as well as multiple console and handheld platforms.

Well, someone beat me to it :)
I had a similar idea -- on another level...
it can still go through after I brush up some things :)

Here's another clip from it, this time featuring "A Corner" from Environments 2:

The official site for it is here.

There's also a blog here, in which he talks a little more about the collaboration:

"I’ve been a huge fan of British electronic music duo The Future Sound of London (FSOL) since the 90s. Their experiments in various musical sub-genres have inspired me for decades, with masterpieces like ISDN, Dead Cities and my personal favorite, Lifeforms.

When coming up with the original designs for Mushroom 11, I used to listen to FSOL while designing its dark, desolate world. The pace, story and even the mechanics were highly influenced by their unique ambience.

Around a year ago I decided to try and get FSOL on board with the production of Mushroom 11. I believed it would be a near impossible task for me—an indie developer with no PR or funds, nor with a compelling product at the time—to convince this supergroup to join forces. I was thoroughly surprised at how helpful and accommodating they were, and how much they had believed in the game, even when all I had to show for it was interesting mechanics, programmer art, and some grandiose ideas. They provided me with tips, ideas and a huge selection of beautiful, electrifying music, which really helped me define Mushroom 11 and set its style and direction.

So, I couldn’t be prouder to announce the collaboration between Mushroom 11 and The Future Sound of London. Also remember that Mushroom 11 is up for the prestigious IGF 2014 Excellence in Design Award, so if you’d like to play the latest build, come by the IGF Pavilion at the GDC Expo, San Francisco, March 19-21.

Hope to see you there!
Itay (@itayke)"

That's wonderful. I really hate the fact that some people still have this image that they're a bit pompous or arrogant, simply because they do things entirely their own way. Stuff like that is really lovely.

They seem to be really into the idea of game soundtracks and come across as quite friendly. They have always managed to do things on their own terms, which, I guess coupled with Gaz's often abrasive interview style makes people think they're always like that.

To be honest the moment I saw the first video I thought this bloke's obviously a fan of Lifeforms.

I suppose it ties in nicely with their interactive/multimedia direction in the 90s which was sadly never fulfilled because of the shift towards psychedelia. Their music really suits immersive forms like abstract video and games, so it's good to see stuff like this happening; especially working with an indie developer.

Gaz has always liked to play up to interviewers, but it's pretty obvious to anyone who knows anything about the group past their very surface that they're both really open, decent guys.

That's pretty cool! Sounds like this guy is a hardcore fan.

I wonder which ones.

While we're at it, remember the Prime World video game? Someone uploaded the soundtrack to the game play in multiple segments. I've not been through them all or indeed actually listened to them all yet (and don't know how much is FSOL), but the first certainly has elements of Wheel Of Life:

All of the others are in this playlist, I don't want to overload the page:

Edit.
Part two and seven: To be honest, it doesn't really sound like it's got much FSOL involvement. Doesn't sound much like them.

The rest of it all seems to be variations on The Wheel of Life and The Clear Light of Reality. I guess there's not a massive amount of variation but I'm sure there's scope for a very long version of what are effectively variations on the same track.

Hmm... Mushroom 11 looks... well, unfinished, because it is unfinished.
The backgrounds are awesome, the music is awesome :) - but the mechanics and active graphics look weak - or is it just me?

Nice one on the Prime World tracks... I wonder if a soundtrack will ever be released...

20 minute version of Prime World/Wheel of Life/Clear Light of Reality please.

Ah this is lovely. Probably the nearest thing to a 90s style extended single we'll get any time soon. Some of the tracks are quite different from the versions on E4. Flute from Glacier/Fibrillation turns up too.

Parts 2 and 7 I'm definitely not sure about, they're much more new agey computer game music indeed.

I think it's supposed to be somehow retro (not personally a fan of that), but if this thing has FSOL music, I'm all in :D

Exclusive tracks? Certainly hope so.. also that 20min Prime World single/ep with some selected artwork from the game would be soooooo cool.. Just planting seeds here 8-)

All the tracks were chosen by the designer from Archives & Environments sessions - so nothing exclusive, sadly!

Awesome to see FSOL in games again, the music does fit the mood of alot of them. I would really like to see them compose a soundtrack for a point and click or Myst like game next, defo would work.

Johnathon Blow, creator of Braid, walks through the game here, I would probably dl it for android if available, very clever use of swipping controls for a puzzle game. I can hear Eerie Quarry and something else (both from the xtreme music series, not sure what they're called in the archives..) in the background, also River Delta from Env4 at the end..

Hey everyone. I'm at the PAX East videogame expo this weekend and I got to spend some time with Mushroom 11.

The game is very simple to control but surreal and puzzling. It's both biological and apocalyptic. Basically very FSOL feeling. I really enjoyed playing it. Sadly there were no headphones so I could not listen to any of FSOL's tracks while experiencing the game.

I did however get to chat with the creator of Mushroom 11. He is a big fan of FSOL. I've never chatted with anyone in person who can talk about Lifeforms and FSOLDigital in the same conversation. I asked him about the collaboration. He told me that he made the game with Lifeforms in mind as the soundtrack. Basically the game is a visual representation of the Lifeforms album for him. He said that he contacted FSOL to get the rights to Lifeforms but that wasn't possible (since FSOL don't own the rights to the album). Instead FSOL agreed to send him a bunch of tracks (which I assume were Archive and Environments tracks). He then picked from to make the soundtrack. Also, FSOL were actually hesitant to provide the soundtrack for the game at first but I guess after he pitched the game to them they signed on. Pretty cool details.
