FSOL Rarities

Post by epitome »

Hi guys,

New here :) Sorry if this has been covered before, but I did search and couldn't find anything :ugeek:

I'm a pretty new FSOL fan, but currently trying to get hold of anything and everything they've done.

I have all the albums from the 90s (including both versions of ISDN) and all the Environments and Archives series. I have The Pulse EPs compilation and By Any Other Name. I have A Gigantic Globular Burst Of Anti-Static and I have all the singles they released on CD in the 90s.

I know of three tracks from the 90s that I don't have and I don't *think* have been released on any Archives album - I can't remember the names of them off the top of my head though.

As for more recent tracks that aren't on standard editions of their albums, I know of:
Hydromedusa
Abandoned Housing Blocks of Prypiat
Five Six Five (claims it's on Environments II, so is it just a different name?)
The Plough
Desquamation (possibly to appear on a later Environments album?)

I'm considering buying the FSOL Digitial Sampler 2 for Hydromedusa and Desquamation. Is the stuff by the other artsits on there any good?

Are there any other tracks that have been bonus tracks or on compilations etc that I might have missed?

Thanks for your help :)

also, the official fan site (it's gonna be alive a little more)

that site will slowly be transferred here:

Cool, thanks for that, Pandemonium - gonna take me a while to look through all that, but on a quick scan I did notice a track from the 90s that I hadn't heard before called Landmass - just listened on YouTube, sounds good!

I will look through those properly when I have time, but in the meantime, are there any obvious FSOL post-2007 tracks that aren't included on the standard Environments or Archives CDs other than these?
Hydromedusa
Abandoned Housing Blocks of Prypiat
Five Six Five (claims it's on Environments II, so is it just a different name?)
The Plough
Desquamation (possibly to appear on a later Environments album?)

Thanks, that's absolutely amazing, sir!

I will be reading up a lot on here, I got a lot of catching up to do! :)

Does a shorter/partial version of Five Six Five appear under a different name then?

FiveSixFive has only ever appeared on FSOLDigital Mix. Desquimation is only on FSOLDigital Sampler 2. Hydromedusa, Pypriat and Plough were bonuses for buying from FSOLDigital.

90s stuff worth taking a glance at: Promo 500, Liquid Insects 12", Earthbeat + early alias singles, Semtex 12", ISDN Show, Lifeforms single promo, and various promo tracks and remixes.

By the way, what is the deal with the extrememusic.com stuff? Is it FSOL? Are they free downloads if you sign up to the site? I noticed the Nu Psychedia EP the other day but wasn't exactly sure what it was.

It's library music, so unless you're licensing it out for professional purposes (which is expensive), you can only get it by streaming from the site. They're all FSOL or Amorphous except Live in the Studio which is with other people.

Oh ok, so it isn't a free to sign up and download thing then. I'm listening to Nu Psychedelia now, it sounds pretty cool :)

Just listened to the 2011 "rebuild" of We Have Explosive - that's amazing. Different enough from the original (and other versions) but still retaining some of the classic sound - love it!

Ah, that second sampler has two tracks from Environments 5 on it! And a new Yage track and a whole host of stuff from unidentified aliases and/or friends of the band. The first has still unreleased FSOL and Amorphous on it.
And you need to buy your CDs from FSOLDigital! Bonus tracks as a thanks for getting them straight from the band.
