DJ Food to do two Amorphous Androgynous remixes

Post by dell1972 »

Yep, seems he's returning the favour. Not much else to this really, other than that I guess it implies there'll be some single or EP type release to come with the Cartel(s):

http://www.djfood.org/djfood/out-of-the ... olid-steel

"...I’m also about to begin work on not one but two remixes for The Amorphous Androgynous (!) and write an album of new music based around samples from the Bruton catalogue in conjunction with Universal..."

Surely there's got to be some sign of the actual albums soon?

Always liked and respected DJ Food - I'm really glad he ended up knowing people like Brian and Garry :)

I'm sure the remixes will be spot-on!

- Also - yeah - can't wait for The CARTEL!

Franchise... hmm... I think not...

DJ Food started as a band/project of the two Coldcut guys + Carpenter (aka PC) + Strictly Kev (aka Kevin Foakes).
After the first 4 years (in 1994) Coldcut left the project, and some years later Carpenter left too (arround 2001), and since 2007 DJ Food = Kevin Foakes aka Strictly Kev.

Interesting FSOL-y vibe from about 40:53 in DJ Food's latest Solid Steel mix - machinedrum remix of ill flower, and some FSOL-y samples (hiding behind a lot of quite hectic, glitchy breakbeats) in the Om Unit tune that follows it:

OK, I probably should have waited until the end of the mix to post - the next tune is titled as 'Plug _ A Quick Plug For A New Slot' and I'm damned if it doesn't sound like AA sitars with a breakbeat on top :)

Edited for typos

oops no, that's an old tune *blush*. I'm getting over-excited. I'll go back under my rock.

Just listening to that remix made me realise I haven't listened to Lifeforms in a while and reminded me how wonderful it is.
