My favourie album is a double album - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. I tend to like longer albums, although I do admit it is harder to find time for them as you get older.

What double album was Noel talking about anyway?

Noel was talking about Arcade Fire - Reflektor.
I was never into this kind of rock, these new rock bands all sound like shit to me,
so in general I don't plan to listen to this...

I'm not into Arcade Fire either. I wouldn't say they sound shit, but I don't see anything special about them (from what I've heard).

Maybe because they're mostly fake and lame as fuck? :D

OK, Arcade Fire isn't THAT bad, but I can definitely see where you're coming from.

I like Funeral a lot, but the other albums have really disappointed me.
Generally I find 40-50 minutes is an ideal album running time, it allows a record to be concise. Obviously there are certain things that work better longer (FSOL in particular!), but I find longer albums often tend to drag and seem to have lots of filler material on them.

It's quite interesting in the credits seeing how Amorphous has progressed again. On The Isness, AA was a diverse and disparate collection of musicians who happened to pop by the studio, recorded and produced by FSOL into a cosmic ambient psych trip. Then as they started doing shows, AA turned into a loose 'band', with regular musicians playing, live drums, more jamming, once again produced by FSOL.
But now with a few recent remixes, and on The Cartel, AA is just Brian & Gaz again, doing everything except for a few guest guitar, bass and drum spots, and the orchestral instruments. And Amorphous produce, with no mention of FSOL.

BTW, I don't know if you guys are aware of this 1968 movie:

Could have influenced FSOL a bit, it's also the movie that the infamous Beastie Boys "Body Movin'" video was based on. I seriously recommend checking this out if you have the chance. I also has crazy good soundtrack by Ennio Morricone.
