Ross....podcast tracklist peeps....help!

Post by seedy »

whelp i decided to finally bite the bullet last night
i have started the process of tracking out all of the fsol downloads i've been sitting on for ages.

first one i get started with and i'm already confused.
this would be Kiss 100 Transmission 1. it doesn't seem to match Ross's tracklisting on secondthought at all and they also mention at one point that it was a "test transmission". YET.....this doesn't seem to match up with test transmission 1 or 2 either!???!

to further complicate, i have everything that was on the ftp way back in the day.
i pull out my kiss 100 12/26/92 and this one doesn't match the tracklist......nor does it match the offcial download!
the one tune i quickly ID'd on my ftp version was Ramirez - Hablando (Accordeon Mix) which we know to appear on test transmission 1?

SO....as you can see i'm completely confused and don't know what is up or down.

D1 of my ftp version = a lot of talking through the filters high pitch and low pitch...CYBERFACE etc.
I start hearing this type of talk at the end of the first 30 min of the official recording.

Could my ftp discs be out of order in some way?

krap i just rambled and ranted like a madman
please someone try and help me make ANY sense here!

So, as I know it - All the KISS releases were released in the Pod Room, and I think we had official word from Brian that those are ALL Kiss releases.

- the only thing that Brian got wrong were the original transmission dates, which is not a big deal, he probably had date-stamps when they finished mixing them, and not the original transmissions.

So, these are the pod room releases:

[1992] Kiss 100 FM Test Transmission 1 (14.09.1992) [320]
[1992] Kiss 100 FM Test Transmission 2 (xx.10.1992) [320]
[1992] Kiss 100 FM Transmission 1 (26.12.1992) [320]
[1993] Kiss 100 FM Transmission 2 (19.05.1993) [320]
[1993] Kiss 100 FM Transmission 3 (04.11.1993) [320]
[1993] Kiss 100 FM Transmission 4 (11.11.1993) [320]
[1993] Kiss 100 FM Transmission 5 (18.11.1993) [320]
[1993] Kiss 100 FM Transmission 6 (25.11.1993) [320]

So, everything else that we had from the Disenchanted FTP were some shuffled bits and pieces form the Pod Room versions.
KISS FM did a lot of re-transmissions, reprized some part of the transmissions, and for a long time we believed that FSOL did a 12 hour non stop transmission - this didn't happened, they just clumped up some of the original transmissions into a big chunk of 12 hours. (the re-broadcasts lasted till '95).

Anyway, I will do a serious chronological listening of these, because in my reviews the chronology is getting to it - so I will probably find where the FTP versions fit in - and I will write it up here on the forums :)

What are Yage and Cyberface saying in the mix? That should basically tell us which mix it is.

I have to see that all people always love and talked about those Test transmissions from 1992 as the best thing and yeah , the future sound of london made the best fucking transmissions on 92, and many of the other artist best songs appear on these , sure 92-95 were the great age of the electronica, chill out, ambient idm on artists, attitude, scene etc...

Seedy>yes - Ramirez "hablando" and then - Datura > "yerba del diablo"(remix) appear on the first songs of ftp 1992 set, this set in ftp or pod room is a fucking pleasure masterpiece for listening !!!!!!!

ok i think i wasn't totally clear

forget the FTP version...i understand that we put our best guesses on what was circulating at the time. it just added to my confusion but probably isn't necessary here.

what i'm saying is - have the official "transmission 1, 12/26/92" and it doesn't seem to match the setlist on Ross's site.
for example.....at 1:47 on part one....i'm not hearing Cascade

there is a chance i'm just insane but.....

No, I was just finished listening Kiss 1 Part 1 a few minutes ago - at the end Yage and Cyberface show up again. (at 26:04)

(they probably appear some more, but 26:04 is a long one...)

Oh yes, that one basically samples part of one of the Test Transmissions, I completely forgot about that.

Yeah, I forgot to write, if seedy is unable to hear the Cacade (album version) in this one:
kiss transmission 1 12/26/92 - then he mixed up some files - because it's there - obviously
(you know where to re-download them seeds :) )

i'm doing ok.....i think i just confused krap with that transmission 1 or someting

i'm working on transmission 3 now after having done 1 and 2.......really seems like there are tunes here that we (read: yall) would know?

idk what is fsol and what isn't any more.
i just listen to many parts and they are so familiar......hard to believe they are fully unrecognized by our group even if not fsol?
