FSOL PC collection, finally

Post by Pandemonium »

Listening music on a CD player, lats face it, its becoming extinct.
(I use it only when I'm drunk, stoned or on a party)
and lets not even go to the 12" part, its for holidays only :)

So, it took me a SHITLOAD of time, ripping, scanning, searching, tagging, renaming, more searching...
but finally, my FSOL PC collection is about 99% complete and ready :)
(its not all in best quality, but at least its all there, quality in due time...)

I've got a copy Papua New Guinea from an Ibiza chill-out compilation CD, I think that's about it.

Still the largest selling format for music around the world.

The only music I listen to as digital files regularly are my own work-in-progress tracks.

Partially because I fucking hate sitting at a computer.

Getting the same feeling lately, i used to be excited about mp3s and all this and have collected a huge archive of music myself. But turning on the comp and monitors every time i want to listen to music has become...hmmm boring? even though i still do it. i wish i could listen to my beloved CDs on my audio system speakers but unfortunately my CD player has been broken for years now and i dont know if its worth buying a new CD laser head to fix it. I wanted to listen to my old love Soundgarden - Superunknown CD and had to turn on the pc again and shove it in the DVD-ROM drive, damn....

Well, why don't you plug you audio system on your computer and you won't need CD player, you have CD-ROM :) and while you listen, you can rip the tracks too, in any format you like :)

BTW I never turn off my computer, I have a decent PC-Case with lots of coolers that I maintain 2 times a year,
- then, Optic-Audio cable going to my Panasonic SA-XR55 amplifier, which is 100% digital amp,
- then with bi-amping and bi-wiring we arrive to the CAV Fi-III speakers.

this way, the sound is always 100% digital all the time, there is no analog-to-digital conversion anywhere, and the sound is Awesome, even in MP3 :)
- this is a LOT cheaper than getting 100% analog equipment, which might be a little better, but not worth the money... And people who have turntables and integral amps who convert the sound analog-digital-analog 2 or 3 times and think that they know something about sound - they don't :)

I don't know about you guys, but when I got tons of hard-drives and got all my music accesable with just a few clicks - I listen to it 3 times more than I used to :)

6TB hdd space + 5TB for back-up of all music files :)

...shit - this reminds me, I need to clean the coolers...

Amazing collection!

I agree, I also do most of my music listening when sitting behind a computer. But I still love vinyl the most :)

Yeah, its only 64GBs :D
What mail client supports files of this size :)

Anyway, I did post this here so that newer members can have something to start with,
so they can keep digging on the web, legal or illegal :)

They can all be found, - granted, it will take you 8 to 12 months to organize everything, but it can be done :)

I dont think im ever going to stop listening to music on pc since it has become a habit. In order not to turn on the pc every time, i just have all the stuff i want to listen to on my iphone which i can connect to the audio system, im quite satisfied with this solution. As for the CD, i would just rather have a proper CD player for my old CDs.

Yeah mp3s are my listening format of choice too. My life is based mainly in two locations - In front of my PC at my flat, or out an about. So the former is sorted by my [ripped from my cd / purchased] mp3 external hard disk collection and the latter by a filled 32gb microSD card plugged into my [not an i-]phone.
