Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

Does anyone know if the plan is still to release all the Rituals trilogy in 2022? I guess with the zero promotion of the first one that might be hard to say!

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

This is sounding really promising especially the 'something Underworld might make when they do their really unashamedly up, beautiful feel good stuff' Feels like a proper follow up to dead cities,as in,proper FSOL album. friday cannot come soon enough There was just a feeling i got from that partic...

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

Good to hear your take Ross. I was definitely getting some LF (inevitable with those opening samples) and ISDN vibes from some tracks on it. Ha - possibly my current favourite is Sand to Ocean! Maybe as it has that immediate hook and uplifting euphoric thing going on that i was like 'what's this?!',...

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

I went to the record store to support RSD and knew they wouldn't have Rituals but looked anyway! Not sure if any copies go to Texas...at lease my kids found some records they wanted so it was fun. Will order online as usual and avoid reading any spoilers from you guys haha jk. But for real my first...

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

Ahh, nightmare Ross, hope you feel better soon. That's a shame. It was my first RSD today too. Had to queue for a fair while, so i wasn't thinking there'd be anything left, but got Rituals and a re-issue i was after. I'll check out the FB page - always forget about that. Just had another listen and ...

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

Yeah, i scooped a copy this morning from Action Records in Preston. Have given it one spin so far, and i really liked it. Recent releases have taken me quite a while to get into before they clicked (and now i love some of them), but for me it felt like Rituals was quite easy to engage with straight ...

Also to add - genuinely a bit sad that it's finished now! Was constantly checking for the next Fractional Difference update!

Re: Fractional Difference - Exploring FSOL song-by-song

Ross you've undertaken an epic task with this, thank you. I'm a relatively recent member of this board, having been a huge FSOL fan in the 90's, but drifting off after Amorphous stuff (which i do really enjoy), and then getting very lost when i tried to reconnect during the Archives/Environments era...

Re: Fractional Difference - Exploring FSOL song-by-song

This is great Ross, thanks. I see a playlist coming on. I have some of those tracks already but very scattered. Just lost track of the archives stuff and struggled to find time to seriously engage the amount of material. I miss being a teenager and legitimately being able to hole up in my bedroom an...

Re: Fractional Difference - Exploring FSOL song-by-song

Thanks Dennis. Yeah i've got all the RSD re-workings and really enjoy them. Interesting you mention the Amorphous feel on My Kingdom - was listening to it the other day and thought i heard a sample from The Isness, possibly Divinity?! But maybe i was hearing things! I will definitely pay some attent...

Re: Fractional Difference - Exploring FSOL song-by-song

Man, i'm loving this thread, thanks for putting so much into this Ross, and so much to catch up on (so glad you did the Lifeforms VHS too!). Dead Cities is possibly my favourite album ever (or top 3, it's too hard to pick one!), so as much as i love their other material, i've been really looking for...

Re: Fractional Difference - Exploring FSOL song-by-song

Great write up. Really enjoy seeing the personal, autobiographical elements too, as I relate it to my own experience discovering FSOL and Lifeforms. The imagery and artwork was so tied to the album experience (one of the main reasons i moved back to vinyl from digital). And the idea of it having a g...
