Re: Environments 6

I kind of get the whole flashback to the nineties thing, especially on Environment Six. I can only attribute it to the increased use of beats. It has generally been very sparse in the Environments series up until now compared to their nineties output. I found it quite amusing when the beats they int...

Re: Dead Cities turns 20

Ah, I looked in the discography section on here. The actually topic says 28th October, the content itself says 18th October. Either way it's now-ish..

Re: Dead Cities turns 20

Intriguing. I'm assuming that it's going to be a way off. The exact anniversary is next Friday.

Re: Dead Cities turns 20

The general air of mystery makes me half wonder whether its a fan-made thing, like KLF EPs that came out in recent years (I assume they were fan made), but I'd imagine Brian and Gaz wouldn't be especially that enthusiastic about it being posted publicly on here. I assume it's actually a genuine mock...

Re: Dead Cities turns 20

So did that mock up come from Brian then? Does this imply that Virgin give enough of a shit to actually do a rerelease, or did Brian and Gaz buy the rights back to do a release? A Lifeforms equivalent would be huge, just including the singles, let alone any bonuses. Bring it on though if there's a c...

Re: Environments 6

Is that version of a Study of Six Guitars much different from the ISDN one, or just edited down by a minute anyone? My impression of the two albums so far, having listened to them both once, is wow. 6.5 is definitely sounding like more of a follow on from E5. It's definitely louder and bassier. I'm ...

Re: FSOLDigital Calendar

Interesting. I do really hope the calendar digital track come as a flac option as well as mp3, so I can maintain my flac based hypocracy of convincing myself I have (at 44 years old) the hearing to discern the difference...

Re: The Orb - Chill Out World

I too agree with Ross on the Fehlmann comment, I feel more inclined to listen to his solo stuff as a result, though they always come across as nice but almost wholly unmemorable - you could argue that makes them good value as you never tire of them because you can never remember them! I think bitter...

Re: The Orb - Chill Out World

I've actually yet to purchase the Moonbuilding album. I became increasingly disenchanted with The Orb with the Metallic Spheres and his collaboration with Lee Perry. Combine that with the increasing realisation that Paterson is a freeloading ballsack with almost no artistic talent, other than his ab...

Re: Environments 6

Wouldn't ...6.5 still be listed before ...Six though on account of it coming out on the same day? I've only got part way through Six so far, but it's sounding very good. Wild weather is quite different to everything around it. I'm thinking it sounds so far more like the bulk of Archived 8 than Envir...

Re: Environments 6

Yep, they've arrived here. Looking forward to listening to it tomorrow. I see there's a "FSOL uses EMS Instruments" message and "This album features SKYFLOW PROJECT Synthesis Design (FSOL : DIGITANA)"

Re: Environments 6

Yep, same here. It feels like everyone else already has it and has listened to it loads already, while I'm holding out for the postie to come up with a physical copy. More likely, I'm waiting for her indoors to send a "what've you bought this time?" text. First world problems eh...

Re: Environments 6

There's a Solid Earth and a Hollow Earth actually Ross. It's been years since I heard the youtube one though, wasn't it on the Gigantic Burst of Anti Static video, or something from that time?
