Re: FSOL PC collection, finally

I wonder who has the largest FSOL collection in terms of physical releases. If I hadn't given up the collecting a few years ago I'd definitely be on for it, but I haven't seen rontxo's collection. I'm still missing a fair few '91/'92 12"s and pretty much all the remix 12"s from the past si...

Re: FSOL PC collection, finally

I used to have an iPod, then it broke and I went back to my discman. Which is more convenient as it means I no longer have to rip CDs to my computer.

My laptop isn't quite as fancy as having a remote.

Re: FSOL PC collection, finally

Do you guys really spend most of your spare time in front of the computer? No sitting back in a comfy chair, reading a book, lying in bed, or anything that's not staring at a screen frying your eyes? Jeez. More than a couple of hours at a screen and I start to go mad and long for something tangible ...

Still the largest selling format for music around the world.

The only music I listen to as digital files regularly are my own work-in-progress tracks.

Partially because I fucking hate sitting at a computer.

Re: FSOL - From the Archives Volume 1 -3

Eerie Query = A Corner
Polar Rinse = Journey to the Centre
Tinted Love = a Polemical track, can't remember which one.

Re: Looking to start composing my own music

Yeah, the best thing to do is experiment until you get a sound that you really like. I don't think music theory is of much use unless you have really specific ideas to start with that you want to translate into music, so just get some free software - Reaper is a decent DAW, Audacity is great for edi...

Re: FSOL - From the Archives Volume 1 -3

As I think I mentioned in another thread, Long Shadows is a remix of Paths by Robert Miles that was obviously not released because they decided on the Cosmic Jukebox remix instead. ISDN/Lifeforms material is really tricky, because stuff like Dirty Shadows originates from around the Lifeforms era, ev...

Re: FSOL remix or original?

It features Distant Memories and She Fell Backwards/Stark Tower, which makes it rather interesting in terms of content, helpfully placing these around the ISDN era. A fair amount of unknown stuff in there. Not a great quality bootleg, from memory. I'm sure it's around somewhere...

Re: FSOL remix or original?

Licensing costs, selling for just a couple of pounds each but probably paying just as much in licensing to cover royalties for all the music on them. Shame, really.

Re: FSOL remix or original?

12 Hour kiss was just four of the 3 hour ones from 1993 pasted together which Kiss ran in 1995 for reasons unknown, so it'll probably be somewhere on one of those too, then.

Re: FSOL remix or original?

There's quite a lot of stuff going around as 3D Headspace Tour, including an hour long bootleg of a show that was sent to an American radio station on cassette - obviously they didn't have an ISDN linkup. I'm also guessing 'radiotrance mix' is from the 3D Headspace Tour. If I remember correctly, one...

Re: FSOL - From the Archives Volume 1 - 6

Oh, go on then. March Of The Money Men - I reckon probably 1992. It sounds more advanced than Accelerator but not quite up to Tales/Lifeforms level of complexity. So I'd put it as 1992 alongside stuff lke Tokyo Travel. Light Forming - Lifeforms outtake. Coast Line - 1992 again I reckon. Cross Winds ...
