For reference Gary's 2006 explanation for how it was made.

Re: RIP Edgar Froese

Picking up the Esoteric remaster of Pergamon as well as that limited edition remaster of the their soundtrack to the film Wavelength to fill in the gaps from that period to go with the new box. Wished they had included full, un-tangentized studio versions of "Calymba Caly", "Silver Sc...

ISDN sleeve art

Came across this and thought I'd share. From the Gal Vihara rock temple in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. As depicted in the sleeve art from ISDN.

Re: Synthi-A - Ignition of the Sun - out 4th March

Nice. For those curious the cover artwork is by the Renaissance painter Michael Pacher, "Saint Wolfgang and the Devil". Probably an homage to the Urs Amman artwork on Schulze's Timewind.

Re: Klaus Schulze

Nomi was a genius of 80's new wave along with Frank Tovey/Fad Gadget, but that's for another thread. We haven't even got to Schulze's 80's works.

Re: Klaus Schulze

His approach is a little different from TD's. He doesn't really have the same sensibilities in terms of exploring timbre or ever-shifting synth manipulations in his sequences like TD did. It places you more in a trance. If you like more variation, you'll probably like his next album "X" a ...

Re: Klaus Schulze

Mirage is his best. Yes, I'm going to go with that. Irrlicht blows me away too. He did some recent-ish stuff with Lisa Gerrard that's worth checking out. Also be sure not to neglect his aliases, especially Richard Wahnfried and the records he did with Din A Testbild.

Re: First FSOL track you heard

Probably seeing the video for Cascade from a compilation of music videos on VHS that one of my older sisters had. Might have been earlier. I do remember hearing PNG in that crap Who Framed Roger Rabbit rip-off Cool World from 1992, but I think my awareness of FSOL was in the background prior to abou...

Re: RIP Edgar Froese

Indications are that it is the real Peter Baumann making these statements. I don't think Peter had creative control over what was going on during the (ahem, weaker) Haslinger/Froese years. He just agreed to put out there stuff on his label. Don't expect Chris Franke anytime soon, although Schmoellin...

Re: Pande-reviews: 2007.4 (Heads / Part-Sub-Merged / Polemic

Do we have an explanation for why the Twitch recordings haven't become available on FSOLdigital? Are they locked up by the label they were working with at the time? From interviews it sounds like they were heavily influenced by Chakk and Cabaret Voltaire at this time. Be interesting to hear these.
